“Malik’s signature will close the circle,” Victor said.
“Daniel did not give you a company,” Wekesa answered. “You killed him.”
A liquid entered a cup. Wekesa began to choke.

Zawadi cautioned Malik not to let the cruelty of the motive distort the evidence: some help might have been sincerely felt in the moment.
The important fact was that Victor later weaponised access created by that help. Investigators verified the notes through original device identifiers and backups sent automatically to the hidden server, preventing the defence from dismissing them as edited fragments.
Victor had preserved the sound of murder.
Minutes later, Rono announced Malik, Achieng, and Zawadi were wanted for trespassing on water infrastructure and stealing private data. The truth was in their hands, but local law now described them as criminals carrying stolen property.
